[美]G·斯平德勒：早在第二次世界大战以前，G.斯平德勒就开始运用人类学的概念和方法来分析教育过程; 战后, 继续在威斯康星州进行研究工作。从1948年起, 在其妻子的协助下，他开始在美国、加拿大和德国等地进行实地研究。1947一1948年间被授予约翰·盖伊·福尔克斯奖。1950年到斯坦福工作。1952年获得美国洛杉矶加利福尼亚大学的人类学、社会学和心理学博士学位。.1959年同L·斯平德勒博士开始研究德国的都市化问题。1962--1966年间, 夫妇两人担任《美国人类学家》杂志的编辑。其间，G·斯平德勒曾任斯坦福大学人类学系主任。他现为斯坦福大学名誉教授和威斯康星大学客座教授

L·斯平德勒：G·斯平德勒的主要著作有:《美国文化的传播》(1963)《个性与文化:跨学科评价》(1968);《布格巴克:都市化和德国乡村的认同》(1973); 《文化变迁与现代化:微型模式与个案研究》(1977)。主要编著有:《教育与文化:人类学的研究》(1963);《教育与文化过程:教育人类学探索》(1974);《心理人类学的形成》(1978);《学校教育人种学研究:教育人类学应用》(1982)。此外，属斯平德勒夫妇合著的有:《教育与文化研究》; 《文化变迁》; 《文化人类学个案研究》《人类学方法研究》和《无权的梦幻者》等
